Tuesday was a good day.
I hopped on a Megabus in Perth and headed for Glasgow - £7.50 return! - to the B2B Roadshow at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
There were some really good seminars and I particularly enjoyed Erick Rainey’s presentation ‘Speaking Isn’t Speaking - It’s Marketing.’ So much so that I have signed up for Erick’s Speakers Boot Camp Level 1.
We can all communicate better and I am really looking forward to this two day course and improving my speaking skills.
Ruth Badger gave an inspiring keynote speech. Best known probably for her appearance on The Apprentice, Ruth left school age 16 with little in the way of qualifications but a real desire to be rich. At 33, she is a multi millionaire. Her story is a fascinating one.
And master networker Colin McKeand led a very useful Netinwar, peppered with loads of useful business networking tips.
There were plenty of opportunities to network and I enjoyed many really good conversations with business owners, which has led to some interesting leads and ideas. A very useful day spent out of the office.
Actually, on reflection the whole week was a good one.
By the weeks end I had fulfilled orders for branded Culture of Enterprise pencils for Wendy Inglis Humphrey of Otocos and Hettie’s branded Thermal Mugs for Nicki Martin at Hettie’s Tearooms. Furthermore, I took delivery of some Legends Promotional Products name badges to wear at meetings.
There was a really good meeting on Thursday to discuss the possible supply of staff uniforms to a local organisation and on Friday I won an order to supply 500 rugby shirts embroidered with The ABF Soldiers’ Charity logo for the British Military Tournament at Earls Court in December. This is a splendid piece of repeat business as I supplied t-shirts for the Alliance Trust Cateran Yomp earlier in the year.
But the best news of all came at 11.38am on Tuesday 1 November when Rhian, my daughter, texted to tell me she had passed her driving test at the first attempt. A great achievement which owed much to her determination and belief that she was going to pass. Well done Rhi!
