Five or six years ago, if businesses were looking for branded outerwear more often than not they chose fleece jackets. There is nothing wrong with fleeces - I have a few of these as well! – but they do get a bit soggy in the rain and tend to lose their shape.
Softshell jackets are more expensive but they last longer, look stylish, keep their shape and if not quite waterproof – although some are – they are water resistant and don’t get soggy in the rain.
Russell led the way in the manufacture of softshells for the business and corporate markets. A smart softshell jacket embroidered with your company logo and perhaps with some printing on the back looks great and creates a very good image for the organisation.
The Russell softshell jacket (above) with an embroidered logo comes in at around the £40 mark. It’s particularly effective in the winter months and I think I will be wearing mine for a few months yet!
The Regatta Uproar softshell jacket is very popular and well-priced. I have worn one for a number of years. Lighter than the Russell it is an effective all-year-round jacket. It’s smart enough for business use and I use an old one as an outer layer for walking in cold, damp conditions.
The Regatta Uproar softshells (above) with an embroidered logo comes in at around £30.
Result have made great strides in recent years and have introduced two new jackets which this jacket junkie is enjoying road testing. They are a bit looser fitting – good news for the fuller future! – but are warm and comfortable and very keenly priced. They also offer contrast colour zips and jacket inner.
Available in unisex and ladies sizes (as are the other two jackets featured) you should have change out of £20 for the jacket. They also come in a range of seven colours including Vivid Green / Black and Purple / Black.
Choice aplenty in the softshell jackets market.
